Have you checked SpamSieve’s Log? I find this far more definitive to determine
SpamSieve filtering actions.

On my system, MailMate occasionally just crashes, even when doing nothing but
sitting there and handling updates from various IMAP servers. I run beta
builds, so I expect this to happen every now and then. I know it's happened
because suddenly all the spam
