Thanks for confirming this for me. I could probably learn to become more
comfortable with Unix stuff, but it has to be worth the investment in time. I
really like the *idea* of a local IMAP setup, but I am afraid that, even if I
somehow got this working properly, it would easily break down

Thanks for this hint. I do have a plist file I had created (with help
from this list!)I finally had the time and internet connectivity to try
this. I don’t know Xcode but downloaded it and opened up the file
“messageVerfications.plist” (warns me when I send an email out of my
gmail
