i cannot connect to internet via my mobile(motorola a1200) in debian.
i tried wvdial which is the common dialup application.edited
/etc/wvdial.conf as needed.when dialing gets connected to modem but later
gets diconnected with error code:16 -modem hung up the phone.

I have had similar issues before
But I don't think there should be a problem, coz if it works in windows
(as a normal dial-up)
It should work in linux, coz there is no major change etc (security
wise, I mean)
Just play around with the settings and it should be k.
