You have to go to the end of the preference pane. It will say "click the lock
to make changes". Just vo-space on it, it will ask for your password, then
you'll hear a sound, then the controls won't be dimmed anymore.

I hope this isn't to off-topic, but I've found another use for Audiohijack pro.
I'm using it to convert old cassettes, just plugging the line-in cable into the
computer then into the stereo. It sounds pretty good too.
