Every resource I've found for learning to use a Mac with VoiceOver is
screenreader-centric. The iBook by Tim Sniffen is hopelessly out of
date--from 2014--and there have been so many changes and enhancements to
VO since then as to make this book almost useless. It's a good book for

Hi all,
I’m trying to read TopTech Tidbits, and all of a sudden, Voiceover is giving me
way too much feedback. For example, when I navigate to a heading, it says
“Insertion point between X and Y. It also keep saying “vertical line.”” This
is new behavior, and I haven’t updated anything. Sti
Hi!
Hi!
Vocr is very very tedious.
So I rather not use any virtual machine.
I will try to find a refurbished laptop that I can install linux onto or
windows.

Hi all,
At the moment, I am running Ventura and Sonoma. My media is on an
external drive. When I go to my Apple TV 4k, with the TV app open in
Sonoma, its good. But if I go to Ventura, the Apple TV 4k says "cannot
find local media" or something to that effect.

Forgot to mention I am using the Computers app on the Apple TV.

You may want to try take control books. Or the below resource.
It’s that time of year, “More with the Mac!” This course will be teaching you
the basics, how to turn on, setup, and configure settings with the VoiceOver
screen reader. Email, messages, word processing, folder management, and much
Kliph,
How much about VoiceOver for a low-vision user do the Take Control books
actually cover? VoiceOver for a non-speech/low-vision user is a vastly
different experience than it is for those using text-to-speech
technology. That is, while VO is the only link between a blind user and
a Mac,
The Take Control books do address the low vision features available on a
Mac. However, it is not specifically targeted only for low vision users. They
are not expensive books, so taking a risk on them to find out how in depth they
do get is up to you. I can tell you that they do go over what
I'm glad you're enjoying both of your Shokz headsets. I've had the OpenComm
headset for quite a while, but I haven't used them in a very long time because
they don't seem to fit correctly. I feel like every time I move a muscle I have
to adjust them so that they don't fall off. The OpenFit do so

I don’t know. I’ve read Top Tech Tidbits every week for years, and this is the
first time I’ve had this happen.

same here. it can’t be our Macs since both of them did it and they’ve never
done it before.

where are the options for this on a Mac? I’m looking in system settings in
accessability but haven’t foundit wouldn’t be in voiceover would it?

Hi Lori,
It could be invoice over, under braille settings. It could also be in
Bluetooth. It depends on what braille display you were trying to connect. My
suggestion would be that you look in the braille displays documentation and
read the instructions for pairing with a Mac.

I don’t know anything about that display. I would probably first try going into
voiceover and looking under braille. It’s been a while since I’ve connected a
braille display that way, so I don’t remember exactly how it works. The other
option would be to go into Bluetooth and try and pair it the

Generally when one connects a USB braille device to the Mac it just auto
detects much like JAWS and NVDA now do.
