Hello. I’m relatively new here. I just acquired a new M1 Mac mini. I’m trying
to set it up with voiceover enabled but when I turn it on and press buttons on
the keyboard all I get is beep beep no matter what key I press.
I hope this can be solved. Thank you so much.
Violet.

In word, most things can now be done with the function search feature. In
Windows alt followed by Q, I bet in Mac you could set a hotspot for the search
at the end of the Top part of the ribbon.
Try typing edit style and and then down arrow and see if any hints are

When using MS Word on a Mac, Styles can be accessed by going to the Menu Bar,
and from the Format menu, select Style, to open the Style dialog.

Have you tried holding down the Command key and pressing the Touch ID sensor
three times? Here is the number for Apple’s help for people who have
disabilities. This is a free service. 877 204-3930.
Hope this helps.

I have tried holding the command key and pressing the Touch ID button 3 times
but with no result. This is very frustrating as I was hoping to use my new Mac
mini today.

Don’t think you hold the control key while pressing the power button three
time. Try without the control key. Also, are you using the built-in keyboard,
or a Bluetooth or USB connected keyboard? If so, you may need to press a
different key to emulate control.

How about tapping the Touch Bar twice with three fingers? That toggles speech

It does? Just tried this on an M1 MacBook Pro and it didn't work for me. Doing
that on the trackpad works though.

My mac does not have a Touch Bar its a M1 Mac mini. I may need to acquire
another monitor maybe that will fix it so voiceover can finally come back on
and those beeps can stop.

Sorry, I meant the touch pad, not the Touch Bar. That’s where you need to
three-finger triple tap.
