Hello All:
Is there a hot key to temperarily mute the system voice? I am finding that when
using zoom the system voice is very intrusive and annoying. If there isn’t a
hot key, is there a way to do it some other way? I have tried to do this
through key commander with no luck.
Thanks in advance,
Hi Jean,
Not sure if you have a desktop or a laptop. You can mute and unmute voiceover
by doing a three finger double tap on the track pad.
Was this what you are wanting? If you are also using braille, the braille
still works without vo chattering away at you.

I figured out a way you can add an unused keyboard letter to the keyboard
commander in Voiceover Utility to do what you want. I just set my Mute Speech
toggle to right-Option+Q (for quiet). Here’s what I did:
1. Press VO-F8 to open Voiceover Utility.
2. Move down to the Commanders category item.
Hi All:
I know how to mute voiceover. What I want to do is mute and unmute the system
voice.

Hello. I don’t think there is a way to mute the system voice. I have looked in
the accessibility settings in system preferences.
