Hi all,
I have a quick question re the Mantis. Does it give you the option for typing
in Grade-2 braille, i.e. for turning a row of keys into a Perkins style
keyboard? I sent this to the Mantis list, but never saw my message or any
responses, so I’m posting here. Feel free to respond off-list,
Hi Donna that’s weird because someone did respond I think it was Scott but you
can type with the JKLFDS in the editor by pressing F12 to enter this mode but
that’s only in local mode. If connecting to a host device the host device would
have to support this feature!

Hi Joseph,
Thanks. I would only want to do it in local nmode, so that’s fine. Could you
check on my subscription? I haven’t seen a single message from the list.
TIA,
Donna

Hi Candy,
The thread I was talking about was on applevis.com Search for Orbit Writer and
you should find it.
On the Windows side of things, Ive been using Narrator. It sounds like that
complicates things further with Orbit Writer.

Hi Lorie,
Airdrop uses Bluetooth to do its thing, so bluetooth has to be enabled on both
your Mac and your iPhone. Go to Finder. Then, press Command+Shift+R, and this
will open the Airdrop window. VO to the bottom where it says “allow me to be

Hi Peggy.
It could be done with Narrator on Windows I expect, though I've never
run an update with Nerrorator to try an update from Orbit Research. If
your husband's computer is running Windows 10, Nerrorator does a
decent job for things like this most of the time. You can bring up
Nerrorator by pr
Wow! I just connected my Mac via bluetooth to Amazon Echo!

An excellent way for me to play my music library with no Voiceover
interference. Although, I need to mute system sounds. ;)

in the choice of noone, everyone or contacts only, which do you choose? I found
something that said "me" and "Device List" but I couldn't actually find a
device list.

I would choose everyone for starters. If you do Contacts, that would restrict
access to only people in your Contacts. Once you choose Everyone, you should
see your phone in the device list. Also, you’ll have to make sure Airdrop is
available on your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Airdrop, an
This may sound like a stupid question, but when connecting your echo dot to
your computer, do you in turn lose Alexa’s features, or are those still
available to you?

No. I don't see the message I sent, or any responses. And they're not going to
my junk folder, I've checked.

I didn't actually talk to alexa while connected, but I'm assuming she's
available. My Mac is only connected like any other Bluetooth device.
