Hi, the drive is not a ssd, its a spenable drive.
I picked APFS because I have dropbox going to that drive.
And dropbox only supports NTFS, for windows, or APFS.
They dropbed support for anything xfat.

In the first iteration of APFS, spinners were not supported. Both SSD and
spinners are both supported now for APFS. In fact, Mojave will automatically
flip over to APFS during installation no matter which kind of drive you have.

Well, my VMWare is a bit old these days (8) but I can just open them directly.
Also, if VMWare is in the DOCK, then the most recent VM’s show up when focus is
on that dock item, and then I use the up-arrow key.
