Hi all,
Now that we're moving back to a real city--at least relatively speaking--I'm
thinking about using my phone a little more for GPS and related tasks. I'm
thinking about nearby explorer, but it comes with a pretty hefty price tag.
Does it offer any significant advantages over Blind Squar
Donna,
The answer to your question really depends on how you plan to use GPS. When you
travel, do you walk or mostly ride in vehicles?
If you walk, are you interested in planning routes to places or just hearing
the street names as you go?
When you ride, are you usually the navigator for a
I am not a heavy user, but I have both apps. It may come down to how you want
to use the app. If you are comfortable with one of the free options for
turn-by-turn navigation such as Google or Apple Maps, BlindSquare may do just
fine. That would be my choice on a budget. It may come down to p

Thanks so much for this great feedback! I'm not on a crazy tight budget, but

Donna, also to add to these great suggestions, don’t forget that conventional
GPS / mapping options are also very good. Apple Maps and Google Maps are very
good as an example. You can also do creative things with the other internal

Hi Scott,
Thanks. What you're saying definitely fits my experience. I haven't been an
extensive user of Blind Square, but when I have used it with Maps, I have been
very happy with it.
Cheers,

Hi all,
I'm trying to rearrange the play order in one of my playlists. I used to be
able to use CMD-X to cut a song, and then paste it in the place where I want
it. But now, if I use CMD-X, it deletes the song from my music library. So,
how do I move a song from one spot in a playlist to ano

That’s $39 per year subscription. Still a decent sale price but just know that
it’s a subscription.

For bus / train public transit, I very strongly encourage trying an app called
moovit.
Moovit is the only public transit app I have used which automatically, and
consistently, announces the stop where I need to get off the bus just before
the stop. It gives a couple announcements, one from a co
I have been putting off purchasing either of these apps. I was ready to

been debating if the bus time announcements were worth the cost of Nearby

In terms of bus information I keep switching between Move It an Transit. Both

Unfortunately, transit does not support cities in NZ or Australia. Moovit
supports the major cities in both countries.

No, the blindness specific apps are subject to the current limitations of GPS,
just like the lower cost alternatives. That said, EU's GPS system will be
coming online fairly soon. With both systems working in concert, expected GPS
accuracy is predicted to significantly increase to an average of
