Marking an application as trusted in El Capitan

hello, I am running the latest El Capitan on my late 2008 iMac. My security options are set to only open applications from the Mac App store or from identified developers. I have an editing application obtained elsewhere which I trust. Is it possible to mark this application as trusted so that

Editing PDFs?

Hi List, I have a big PDF Manual I want to edit. I'd like to edit the pdf in to its individual chapters. What APP is out there that I can edit a pdf? In other words lets say the pdf is 20 chapters in size I want to make it 20 separate pdfs? 1 pdf per chapter. Thanks for any solutions Chuck CH
