I use El Capitan daily on my macbook pro mid 2012 and it works just fine. Of course their are occasional bugs, but that's expected. I'd say go ahead and upgrade. Also, make a time machine backup if you can. That way if you seriously hate it, you can downgrade. In my opinion Yosemite was a horrible

another bug that I am aware of has to do with safari. When you are is safari and command-tab to get to another app, it will sometimes keep placing you in safari no matter what you do. It will also read the text your cursor was on when you switched to another app. I don't know the steps to reproduce

As of El Capitan 10.11.4, I downgraded to Yosemite 10.10.5. Yosemite has issues, but nothing like the nonsense in El Crap, which Apple are clearly never going to get around to fixing until macOS 12 gets released. Activities and hotspots, which both matter to me, for example, are still buggered

Have done that a time or two and just did it now. Had to restart the Mac after it booted. An issue I see on occasion is where I might be arrowing menu extras or desktop icons and VO will not speak alternate items. Example, speak A skip B speak C skip D and so on. The busy is still there
