Back in the day there were lots of these little utilities but now that
you have full access to unix in the terminal it's not really worth a
developer's time to recreate a GUI version of a text command. I'm sure
they are out there but most of the stuff I found when googling around

Hi Chris.
My first operating system experience besides MS-dos back in those dark days,
was Unix via a dos terminal connected through ethernet. First it was sun os and
later one flavor of unix or other, such as Freebsd, sco unix, linux etc. So I
know exactly what you are talking about.
However,
I'll resist the temptation to dive into geezer computing but Sun made
some nice stuff back in the day. It was also a lot easier to connect to
them from the Mac than Vax mainframes which required a special OS patch
to support DECNet.
Never heard of Ipackr and couldn't find it in the store. For

I saved Cheryl's message. I thought I had been doing what she suggested, but

least one. I am going to take her message and go step-by-step and see if I was
doing something wrong. I just haven't been back on the
Hi Patricia,
Ok, I've got my disc and after a few hours of struggling, I've partitioned it
into two partitions successfully.
I plugged my new dis into a usb port. It showed on my desktop. I opened disc
utilities and selected the disc in the table of all available discs. I then

Hello Andrew:
Going to try it! Thanks so much.

that and VoiceOver on mac OS. Is there a way to switch between the screen

Thanks,

You cannot switch between these two screen readers when using Boot Camp because
Boot Camp only allows one operating system to be live at any given time. You'll
either be using voice over we're NVDA but you won't have the option to switch
between the two.

I sometimes get emails that have mixed Russian and English. The language
switching is wonderful on the iPhone. It just reads the Russian, then reads the
English, then goes back to Russian. It is really great. So today, I got an
email that had English and German. I don't have German in my languag
Ok, I understand you have to restart and then decide which OS you want, but can
I wait until NVDA or VoiceOver comes up, or is it just a matter of going
through the motion with the keyboard commands that we know? Speaking of the
keyboard command, what is it again please?
Thanks,

Hi all,
since the latest update to OSX when arrowing down a list of messages in a
mailbox where I used to hear the senders name I now hear no sender.
I have had my sited wife take a look and where the sender should be she can see
the words no sender.
Can anybody offer any help on this one.
Max.
If you have Voiceover enabled to start speaking at login, that is
what will happen.
Same with NVDA, if its set to start when you boot into Windows, it
will start speaking at startup.
When using Bootcamp, the two OSs do not interact. Its either OS X or
its Windows.

My understanding is, if the language is set to a specific voice / language,
that voice will attempt to read everything. However, if the language is set to
default, language will switch depending on the language flag in the text. Set
the rotor to language. Use the vertical flick to switch to defa
There’s a pane in System Preferences called Startup Disk where you can choose
which disk your Mac boots from. You can find it through Spotlight Search as
well (do a COMMAND+SPACE, enter “startup”, and you should be taken right to the
result you want). You will then be in an accessible dialog box
Well, that's what I had to start with. Language set to default, which is Alex.
The German voice was in the rotor. I figured if it wasn't in the rotor it
wouldn't work. So, with the voice set to default, Alex talking. And the German
was spoken by Alex. So maybe some flag has to be sent in the tex
Depends on what you wanna do with it. I personally love mine.
