Hi all
I’m sending this query on behalf of a friend. He was trying to use Safari on
his Mac this morning, went to try and enter a website address, and discovered
that the toolbar in Safari on his Mac seems to have completely disappeared.

I'm happy with my placeholder text, but Pages won't replace it with the actual
text I want. I thought, when I made a document based off my template, I could
just type and what I typed would override the placeholder, replacing it with
the text I was writing. Is there more to replacing placeholder
Okay, thanks for confirming. Hopefully they update that to be a little more
robust in the future, but at least I know what I'm doing now. :)

Hello Alex,
To replace placeholder text, you need to navigate with only the arrow keys so
that the whole placeholder text is highlighted before you start typing over it.
The whole piece of placeholder text will then be replaced.

Press command plus I (get info) navigate and choose the details radio button.

When you set the title of the navigation item, it renames the view controller
as well, so there’ isn’t any problem with that.

Hi, One thing you can try is to delete safari with something like app
delete. Then go into the app store, and click updates. Safari will be
on the list and the app store will re-install it. I had to do this
with ITunes after I updated to 10.10.4.

Hello Alex,
You need to hear VoiceOver say “Placeholder selected” to know that the
placeholder text is actually selected as it reads the placeholder text even
when it isn’t selected. You can also use VO-F6 to check that it is selected. It
needs to be selected to type over it.
