Strange issue with Microsoft Word on my mac

Hi there. I’ve encountered a very strange thing with Ms Word 2016 on my iMac. When i try to read a document with more than one page, at least so it seems using only up- and down arrow keys, nothing is read and it looks as though the cursor is elsewhere in the application and not on the document.

Hi, Let's see if I can remember how I fixed this issue... Go into mail prefs, to accounts, then in the table of accounts select your account that's giving you trouble. Then select the tab that says mail actions. Somewhere on that screen there is a check box to keep trashed items on the server. Unch
