Hi dionipher, Thanks for the response. The strange thing is that I fixed it! The trouble was with my gmail account. When I sent out the email you answered I got a message that the message couldn't be sent. I deleted my gmail account, put it back in, and the trouble is gone. Very strange, thanks Jef

Possibly, but when I tried it a few years ago, it caused problems and lock-ups, and I had to get rid of it. I'd rather convert the file system to something both computers can work with natively, if at all possible. XFAT is a good idea--I forgot about that one. It's a 1TB drive, so hopefully XFAT

No worries about manually updating drivers. All necessary updates from Apple are installed from the App Store, under the Updates tab. Alternatively, you can choose whether or not you’d like these OS X updates to be automatically installed by opening System Preferences and selecting the App Store
