The attack assume jumping one fairly substantial hurdle and that is you
must jailbreak your phone to install apps that don't come from the Apple
app store. I don't know what percent of people actually do this but I
suspect it's small, which makes the attack surface small and the injury
somewhat
Last I heard the only way on current MacBooks was to have an external
monitor hooked up. Maybe some of the tricks from the MacMini external
monitor bug would work here as well.

Yes, anything you have done as a guest will be deleted. If your real username

Problem solved. I was able to log out, and then use VoiceOver at the log-in
screen to select my name as the user and then enter my password.
