Okay, first, I think you can set jaws to use the insert key as the modifier whether in desktop or laptop keyboard mode. So, on the simplest level you could just set the grave accent key to produce an insert keystroke from within fusion preferences, and then set jaws to use insert as modifier key

Espeak for mac, as of now and probably forever unless one of the tallented programmers learns how cepstral and infovox work on the mac, and integrate this free and open source software to the mac. If eSpeak cannot be ported, and integrated, then that's one point lower that I have for open source

I'm thinking as a "new" VO user pressing 2 KeyBoard Keys (i.e., COM & Space Bar) as opposed to pressing 3 KeyBoard Keys (i.e., CRTL+OPT+Space Bar). "SpotLight" is as I recall is a way to search the "Mac OSX" for any program/application and Launch it similar to how one would do the same on a PC
