Hi Scott,
you need the latest firmware for Bluetooth support of the Focus 40 on your Mac.
For the Focus 40 blue classic, the latest firmware is 4.59. For the newer Focus
40 blue (2012 and later) it is 4.93. You will need a Windows PC to do the
firmware upgrade.

Hi Kawal,
which Focus braille display is firmware version 5.71 for? I got both, 4.59 and

Hi amadeus users,
Joining files is easy. Here's how I do it:
1. Open amadeus, the sound menu and then join files. This dialog has a listbox
and 2 buttons. To begin with, of course all files you are going to join, must
be in the same audio format.
2. Hit the add button. If it's not labeled, use
I'm running Mountain Lion and I have access to 2 braille displays at the
present time. I can only pair one, but cannot have two paired. I know I can
only use one at a time, but wish to have access to either. I can go into
System Preferences, Bluetooth and add a second device there, but cannot
5.71 is for all new Focus models. It includes the new Power 1 2 3 feature.

The Audio Book Converter is accessible. I have used it frequently. I
would assume other products would be, but then again, I haven't tried any of
the others as of yet.

Hi there
I can't add more than more on the list either on the Mac. I can on the iPhone.
I have had to delete one before I can add the other, if, that is, I can get the
Focus 14 to add at all. What I am doing these days is using the Focus 14 on
Bluetooth since the Genius Bar man helped me get it
Have you tried adding both of them to the mac using voiceover utilities?

Hi Isaac,
Yes, I tried to add the second display from the Braille Category. No luck, as
the Add Button is still Dimmed.

I had two displays paired at once. Also, you say you know you can't use them

Yesterday, some counseled me that I could lock my iPad 2's rotation to
portrayed mode from the Control Center. I've looked in Control Center, and see
nothing relevant to it. Sorry to be a moron, but could someone clarify where
in Control Center I specify a rotation lock?
Thanks.

Is there not a setting that just says orientation lock after the IPod controls?

Nope. I have, in Control Center, the track position and title of whatever
musical selection is playing; then I have Airplane mode off, WIFI on, Bluetooth
on, Do not disturb off, Mute off, Clock, Camera, Airdrop and Brightness.
That is the extent of what is in my control Center.

Hi,
Right now the App Store is unavailable.
Am I the only one experiencing that?

Hmm, I didn't know the iPad was that much different than the iPhone in terms of
locking. Sorry I couldn't help.

Hi group.
I want to create a playlist for all my radio drama that I have.
Most of them are in iTunes already.
Now, in the old version, you could do shift downarrow and it would select the
songs you wanted.
This still works, however voiceover doesn't announce that its selecting
anything.

Hi Mark. The side switch may already be set to lock rotation, in which case it
will not appear in the control centre. You can find the setting for the side
switch in settings/general. It can be set to mute sounds or rotation lock, and
whichever one is selected, will put the other in the control
The lock is therefore controlled by your side switch. You can change
this behaviour in the opening screen of the Settings app. Just make sure
General is selected on the left pain.

Hi, Thuy:
I have noted the side switch set to lock rotation within Settings. However,
nothing I do, either pressing the side switch (either up or down) or changing
it to "mute," seems to actually lock the rotation. My assumption here was that
VoiceOver had cooped the side switch for volume, a

Hmmm. Learn something new every day; I didn't' know the iPad had one of those,
and sure enough, that locks the rotation. Thanks again. I'm blushing at my own
ignorance. :)
