at the router. Some public wireless access points only have Ports 80 and 8080

Let me clarify my question.
Most of the time when I use a public wireless or one in someone's house
everything connects with no problem. However, on occasion, I connect to a
public wireless and only Safari goes online. The email program does not
connect.
Any idea why this might be?

Try a power cycle what you do is turn off wireless router and modem and turn
both back on after 10 seconds
