Just adding to this, any Mac that can run Yosemite can also run El Capiton.
That’s what I found by looking at various sources by Googling OS X El Capiton
and also, some release notes on the Apple Developer website. It also looks like
El Capiton has the same system requirements pretty much as
Do control option m and go down to about this mac. and do control option
space.
When did you purchase your mac? if you are running yosemity you can
update to el captain
