It is $20 in the app store. That is an amazing price, though, and it
has the advantage of simply downloading and updating, not the
hours-long tedium and nail-biting of a windows upgrade (which costs a
lot more).

Yu should be able to upgrade your macbook just fine. Mine is just the white
macbook from February, 2010 with 4 GB ram and I upgraded it fine today.
