But, with this new layout, how does one get rid of history items in the history
table? Doing it in preferences does not work.

It is indeed a much less cluttered and much more compact layout. I believe I
also approve. Now it remains to be seen whether, when I call a phone or one
calls me, the problem of intermittent clicking hashing out my audio comes
back...

I like how the new skype update does things. Instead of having a "source list",
which smacks of iTunes to me, you have two tables that contain all the meat of
skype.
