You can assign descriptions to images in Pages through the format inspector.
VoiceOver then announces the description when navigating to the image. I think
it’s a good practice
So, you know I suggested watching out for 4.3 vs 5.5.2? Well, I was looking at
the IWOrk 09 version of Pages which is 4.3. There are a few neat applescript
functions there.
I did see that images have a description which is what VO will read in the
latest Pages.

expected, to my knowledge. I don't use Pages enough to know what could do with

OK. It’s now working for me. I have to interact with the paragraph style, bring
the mouse, do VO-Cmd-j then VO-Right Arrow and I’m on the menu button.

Hello Barry,
Can you get to the menu next to the paragraph style using normal VO commands
such as the one suggested by Jonathan? I have to bring the mouse and use the
track pad to get there. It doesn’t bother me to do it this way, but a lot of
people find it difficult.

the latest one. In your version, there is no problem getting to the menu, but
this is broken in Yosemite where we are now up to version 5.5.2 (2120) of Pages.

I was able to get to control button for renaming a style or creating a shortcut
by hitting command-control-option-J (jump to next control) I believe this will
work from anywhere in the style table, but I was also attempting combinations
of vo-spacebar or vo-command-shift-spacebar. I am fairly
