It might be your speech volume. Do a two-finger flick up, to read the screen,
then hit the volume up button (be sure your cable is connected, as headphone
volume is independent of speaker volume).

I've just hooked up my Alesis 4 channel mixer and am trying to get the audio
from my iPhone as one of the channels. When I connect the cables though I lose
VO and just get a few sounds.
