Hi,
May I offer an alternate method that works in ML but didn't work in Lion.
In the old instructions after vo to the vertical splitter and routing mouse to
it you do not have to perform the physical click (at least not I). I performed
VO Shift space twice rapidly. VO announces "collapsed". IF
yes it didn't work for me either.
Thanks.

Hello Anne, do you have Mail in classic view or the other? For some reason I
can not get your instructions to work.
Thanks again.

Just one slight addition here. Make sure that you double-click the trackpad or
else nothing will happen. When I did it, VO didn't have anything to say, but
when you do VO left or right arrow, it will say different things than what

Hello Max,
To get rid of the Preview pane in Mail, position yourself on the horizontal
splitter between the message headers and the body, bring the mouse (VO-Cmd-F5),
then do a physical mouse click with the trackpad, mouse, or number 5 if you
have Numpad Commander enabled.
Cheers,
Anne

Hello, over the last day or so I saw a message about removing the preview pane
in Mail
Unfortunately I have deleted that message. Would the person be kind enough to
send it again?
Thanks.
Max.

I've never been fond of the preview pane either. Although I don't think
scrolling is an issue with Voiceover, Preview pane requires a lot more
scrolling when using Zoom, plus I can have smaller windows open if I don't mind
stacking.

Well, I can actually get through a lot more messages more quickly with the PP
turned off, because I don't have to wait for the message to load if I don't
want to read it.
I tend to interact with the mail table and delete hundreds of messages at a
time based on their subject lines.

There was recently an interchange on the subject of removing the preview pane
in mail. I'm curious why somebody would want to do that? I find the preview
pane the quickest way to get through lots of messages. Vo j gives immediate
access and a quick way to move between the preview pane and messag
