recommend Fantastical for this reason. Ever since I started using a Mac with

That's awesome, thanks! I wonder if that used to not be available back when I
purchased fantastical. I can also highlight text in documents and bring up the
context menu and then click send to fantastical. That comes in handy sometimes.

I don't use that app, but the calendar app on the Mac already supports natural
language. If I open Calendar, hit cmd-n, and type "meet Joe at 10 am at the
hospital", the date, time, location, and title are all filled out for me when I
press enter.

How would you input these entires? I mean, are they in some sort of formatted
text file? If they are, you should investigate Applescript if you can't find an
app to do the job.
