this may sound lame, but have you tried just restarting Kindle? I imagine you
have, but I suggest it because I use Kindle often with a HIMS display and do
not have that issue.

If you have the one with the whiz wheels, try moving the left one up a notch.
Also try dot-1-space. Oddly enough, I haven’t experienced this issue, so I’m
not sure if this will help.
