A folder that is “On My Mac” will not move to a new Mac automatically as I
described.
Only folders and content that is on your email providers server will transfer
this way.
If your provider is for example Gmail, I would suggest you create a folder in
your Gmail account called “Mac Stuff

If all of the mail is still on the server, it will be downloaded when you access the account on the new machine. Otherwise, I’m sure there is a transfer process that would be best looked up via your favourite Web search engine.. I think Apple Mail can be exported to mbox format, but I haven’t neede
As long as you've set up your mailboxes and accounts in Internet accounts in
system preferences, they will show up automatically on your new Mac. You won't
really have to do anything.
