One thing that might make Clifton's solution work is if he has mouse pointer
set to follow the VO cursor. I'm sure changes in this option could impact this
operation. Personally, I haven't added any mail boxes to the favorites so don't
have any additional personal experience to go on.

Well, I have done it on all 3 of my machines. My Mac mini, MBP, and MBA I did
it exactly the same.

In mavericks, the vo tracking with cmd f5 is not necessary. Just interact
with the messages table, do vo keys plus command shift space, un interact,
go to favorites and inter act, repeat vo command shift space to the right of
the mailbox where you want it and your done. Repeat the process for you
