As previously mentioned, you can change the name of the computer from within
the Sharing pane of System Preferences, but this only changes the name of the
computer and does not affect user accounts in any way. You can also change the
Display name of the user account, but cannot change the

I just looked again. Under users and Groups in System Preferences, there is a
way to change the name. It's in the box that says "Full Name" But, I don't know
if there is a way to change the actual username other than creating a whole new
account.

Ah, OK. Well, in that case, it looks like you'll have to create another user
account then and start setting up everything like VoiceOver and such from
scratch and delete the old account. I don't know if this is right or not, but
that's what it looks like from what I just read.

It just seems like a hassle to have to change a whole user account. If there's
a way to modify the current user name and be done with it, awesome

I just tried this.
I went in to sharing under system preferences.
Then I went to the edit field and then changed the computer name but when I
went in to users and groups it still showed my user account there.

You can go into System preferences, and click the "Sharing" button. Then, VO to
the right and just after the tool bar there is an edit box Labeled "Computer
Name." then, you can just change it there. I think that's what you're trying to
do right? If not, reply back, and we'll figure this out

To do this first open system preferences.
