you can unlock a jailbroken phone, but that will only work until the next firmware release (after which you are screwed for a while). I checked in a few places and it turns out that AT&T can unlock the older devices. it is going to take me showing up at one of their stores and making a big prod

Hey folks I need some help. I was given an iphone 3 GS and its still tied to AT&T. I tried to call them to get it carrier unlocked and they told me to call apple. apple told me to call AT&T. I really like the device but cannot afford to have 2 cell contracts nor can I break my current contract
