You are right about getting the dongle or some kind of adapter that is if you
want to use those microphones that you presently have. It might be easier or
better to just get a hold of a USB microphone.

I I believe the converter is called a pre-amplifier. External microphones work
OK, but the signal is too small for the line-in to recognize it.
