You can use the References: and In-Reply-To: fields to axe just the part of the
thread initiated by a certain condition. You just need the Message-Id of the
post which you store in a list, which will expire after a month, and which your
script can compare References or In-Reply-To against. This
Hi.
I use global rules to filter e-mails.
I sign in to www.icloud.com, put in my ID etc, press the mail button, find
theget action button and then there are various tabs. One is the rule tab.
Then there are certain options as to what you want to do. So anyone you don't
want to see can go to

That's going to be tricky because lets say someone starts a thread
named ITunes and you say "Screw ITunes and the flame wars, I don't
care." You'll miss that thread. I recommend adding a thread-ID to a
list (check out something like redis), then settin
It’s best to filter server-side if you have that option. Filtering on the Mac
would make running OS X mail a requirement just to get mail filtered, plus your
iPhone would still be notified of new mail even if opening Mail then showed it
to have been moved/deleted.
How you filter is down to your
and if you have a gmail account then you should be able to do it from the web
if my memory serves. Had to use basic view and then it worked fine.

I don't think you can do it on do it on the phone, but it certainly
does work on the mac. The email provider doesn't matter.
Thanks,

Thanks, Jim. Yes, I want to set up rules to filter out given senders. But I
didn't read carefully enough to see that you were using a Mac, rather than a
phone. I was hoping there was a way to do it on the phone. But I guess I will
have to dig into the Mac and see how it works there, and hope tha
It is working for me at the moment.
And, yes the rules are different. I couldn't decide whether to use the
"sender" or from" option. Finally went with from and then the last part of the
email just in case they had other emails with different letters or whatever.
It does seem to be working and i

Have you been able to verify this works? If so I'm going to set this up.
Sometimes the "from" field is a bit weird on lists. My rules are a bit
different because I run my own server, but I have the bonus of
filtering server-side, so that nothing hits m
Hi Mary!
I created a rule and selected "if any of the following conditions are met",
then "from", then "contains", then part of the email address that I think would
not change, then "move to trash" just to see if it worked, then went back to
change the "move to trash" to just "delete. So far i
Jim, how did you do it.

Hi all!
I've decided to create a rule to filter out messages on this list to remove
unwanted messages from certain people. I am having some difficulty with the
rules. My rule is not working properly. It is a simple rule that says if
message is from "specific person" then delete the message.
