Well, it must be time to turn this off and go to bed. I just opened webkit
again, and my Russian links that I swear were not there when I was last in
webkit were there as Esther said bookmarks should be. Definitely time to call
it a night!

When I opened the bookmarks menu and went looking for a whole bunch of russian
bookmarks I have stored in Safari, I didn't see them in the submenu of the
bookmarks bar. that is what prompted my question about the safari bookmarks. I

You shouldn't need to import any of your Safari bookmarks. When you
use Webkit, you're using Safari with a slightly tweaked underlying
engine. Everything else that you set up for Safari is still there.
