Have you tried to use m.facebook.com on your mac? This is the mobile website
and is way easier to navigate then the facebook website itself. If you want to
chat with people, facebook messenger app for the iphone works well here.

It depends. What do you want to do on Facebook? Do you want to just chat with
people or look at news feeds and stuff? If just chatting, I recommend Trillian.
If doing both chatting and news feeds, Menutab Pro for Facebook is good.

I posted instructions a few days ago, but FaceBook has moth-balled it's Jabber
server. Therefore, the Messages app is no longer a viable solution for
FaceBook messaging. There are some other apps people have suggested like
Trillion although I've never used them myself.
