Ah, ok. Well, I can try it and see if the quality suffers. It’s just a audio
book, not like it’s good music or something like that. It just bugs me to have
my book in two huge huge sections rather then actual chapters which I can zip
through one at a time.

lower the quality a bit, so if your saved files don't sound the same, that's
why. You've encoded the file twice, essentially. I don't know
Hi, Audacity will work for this. Unfortunately audacity and most other mid to
high end tools will want you to convert to wave, then split, then save back to
mp3 which is something you don't really want to be doing, especially if the
quality is poor to begin with.

I have some rather large mp3 files which I’d like to split into smaller
sections. they happen to be books, and I want to break the files up into the
individual chapters.
what app do I need for the mac in order to do this? Will audacity work?
