You can check your contacts status by installing a nice little plugin
for Adium. You can find it at the following link:
http://eion.robbmob.com/
It's an awesome plugin where you can control most of the skype
features from Adium.

If your setting is show offline contacts, the online contacts
automatically appear at the top of the list.
You can set it to only show online contacts. This works though if you
attempt to send a request to someone you will not know if they receive

Thanks for the tip. I just turned off Show Offline Contacts, and sure
enough, the names that disappeared all appear below Skype Test Call
when I have all contacts shown, so it appears to work.

Anna in the current skype release, all you can do is go in to the view
menu and tell skype to hide offline contacts. This will cause only
online contacts to show up in the contacts table.
