Do that only if you are selecting multiple items that are not in order. Use
shift to highlight the items if they are in order. Don’t use noncontiguous
selection for just one item to delete.

Try selecting a single item for practice. Arrow to the file and then
press command plus delete. No other keys needed.

To avoid confusion, Backspace is a Windows key. Windows uses
Backspace and Delete keys. The Mac equivalents are Delete and Forward
Delete.

Another good reason to learn to go to the menu bar for shortcuts you
do not know. And its not a good idea to guess at them for this could
lead to undesirable results.

Command-backspace sends items to the trash that you have selected. You can
hold down the shift key and arrow down or up to select items that are
contiguous. If not. Press VO-command-enter on each item and then press the
command-backspace to delete them.

the command to select the items and delete the items in the folder? I have
tried just hitting my delete key or shift delete and neither of those works.
