Great. A TerraByte would take a while to copy for sure.

Hi,
I use a three part backup strategy. For my primary backup, I use an application
called SuperDuper to clone my Mac SSD drive. I refresh this clone once a week.
SuperDuper is extremely VoiceOver friendly and the developer is very
responsive. At the moment, however, only the beta of SuperDuper
Hi,
I don't see why not. If you have the space, you can do whatever you want. the
folder should be in your Home directory, iTunes, iTunes Media, then Movies. If
you have your iCloud storage plan set to optimize your computer, then it should
mostly keep those items up in the Cloud as opposed
Tim,
Can one backup the home videos folder to iCloud? That alone is over
300gigs which is about half my iTunes library.

Hi,
Yeah, I used to use Carbonite, but they, until lately, didn't allow for
external drives on a Mac. I, too, have Google Drive, DropBox and pCloud, with
DropBox and pCloud only on basic plans. My Google Drive is unlimited, but it
is a work account so I don't wish to keep too much personal st
Hi,
Good work trying Terminal. If it took forever, I hope that it was a big
folder. Sometimes, when things take a long, long time to copy, it's because
the drive is failing. If it was a normal, long time, because of the folder
just being large, then that's OK.

As already said I currently have a Crashplan subscription for my cloud backups,
but I’m actually also considering going with iCloud only since most of my stuff
is anyway already there. I currently have the 200 GB iCloud plan, but going up
to the 2 TB one is still super affordable.

This is what I am discovering! Great-one less thing to think about remembering
to do!!
BTW, I finally got the problematic drive repaired and it’s working fine now.
And, also, got the files copied over using the terminal-took ages, but was easy!

Hi
The reason for cloud as well as local hard drive backups is in case something
happens to your local backup, say your house flood or burn down, or your backup
hard drive gets lost or stolen.
As said it all depends on how important your data is to you. There’s a saying
if it’s on site, then it
Hi,
Yes, Cloud based is good. Multiple backups in is good, but if all of them are
in the same building, and that building burns to the ground, then it didn't
matter how many backups you have. There are a number of Cloud backup services
as mentioned, but I've determined lately that I don't rea
Hi,
Time Machine is major hands-off. Once the initial backup has completed, you
don't need to do anything. Time Machine works in the background monitoring
your files and every hour it just does it's thing. If nothing was changed,
nothing is done. If your backup drive is directly connected,
Cloud based. Maybe I am too old fashioned but it might be worth
looking into. After updating iTunes to 12,7 I had to switch to iCloud
backup for my iDevices but I am still well within the free 5gigs. The
Mac is a different story.

Nothing. Once you set up the drive for TM to backup to, its

Hi
Time Machine is already doing exactly what you are describing, it only makes
backups of changes as you go along on a daily basis.
Personally I would say for your needs you don’t have to look at anything else,
Time Machine does its thing very well and in the background. If you want to

Time Machine does this. I also use Carbon Copy Cloner 5. It too will
do incremental backups. It offers a scheduling option as well which I
will set up later. CCC is not the easiest application to navigate but

Hi,
So, I am finally doing backups on my mac. right now, I am using time machine.
I know there are other solutions out there, and am wanting feedback about them.
What I eventually want is for the back up solution to do a backup, then only
update the backup when new things happen or are added.
