Just as a side note turning off the sounds that way also turns off the password
clicks. I did not know this until just a few minutes ago.
Take care all.

Yup,
I find setting verbosity to medium, then going in and customizing individual
elements by expanding details and messing around with the options found in the
verbosity table, the best way to really customize the voiceover experience.

I personally scale my VO verbosity back pretty far. I've found that the single
most effective way to speed VO up is to have it announce "nothing when typing.
This has the disadvantage that the spellcheck while you type feature isn't s
useful, but spell-checking solves that well enough.

Hi Bearfooted Ray:
I'm probably not telling you anything new. But, try monkeying around with
verbosity, hints, and also you can change from announcing typed characters to
words. I find when set to characters, VO often just skips a letter I've typed,
leaving me to wondr if it actually got there

Huh,
It mutes the navigational sound effects you would normally here. Its the
equivalent to the mute switch on the iPhone. But on the Mac, it plays the
sound before the command is done unlike the iPhone that does both at the same
time.

Hi,
One more thing. You can also mute sound effects in VO utilities under sounds.
This will speed up navigation.

Hi,
I've noticed that, as I become faster with my Mac, Voice OVer seems to lagg
behind my key presses. Sure, I could use the control key to silence speech,
but, to me, that's not quite good enough. I'd like Voice Over to be much more
reactive to other key presses rather than trying to tell me
