Hmm, i’ve heard that this takes a very very long time but that of corse depends
on the hardware too.
I found and bought an app called macx dvd ripper.

Um, you could always use VLC.
I have used VLC to recode DVD rips into something less space intensive and also
in “play anywhere” format.
It even has a wizard in the main program that can walk you through the steps to
do this. Just be aware, some of the output file types may require further work.

I could ofcorse use makemkv but since the terminal is a bit klunky with
speech i don’t want to use it.
So are there alternatives?
