And sorry, Brad, for calling you Greg. :)
Do you happen to know the answer to my other question - how to select a voice
in the customize voices list?

It is not necessary to go to System Preferences to adjust the system output
volume.
System volume can be adjusted on the fly using F11 to decrease system volume,
and F 12 to increase system volume.
Additionally, on macOS version Yosemite and newer, VoiceOver users can adjust

Hello,
I thought that you could adjust the sound there but I was wrong. If you go to
system preferences/sound and then choose the output tab you can adjust the
system volume there. This might be what you are looking for.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the help. I find an option to adjust the speaking rate, but not
voice volume. Am I missing something?

Hi Greg,
That’s good to know. As a new user of the math, I always appreciate getting
tips like you just gave. I will tell you that that’s why I bought a Logitech
K860 keyboard. I can toggle function keys between standard function keys and
the media functions of the laptop. In this way, every ti
Hello,
The settings for the system voice can be found in system preferences. Go to
system preferences/accessibility. Once you get to the accessibility settings
you will find a table to select different options. Look for the one called
spoken content. This is where you will find the options to se
Hi Donna,
Well, then I will be interested to learn the answer to that as well. What about
the two keystrokes I mention being function key 11 and function key 12? Does
not affect the system voice? Anyway, hope you get your question answered soon.
Best, Les

Hi Les,
You do that to adjust the VO voice that you have selected, that is the voice
that reads the screen and stuff. I’m talking about the system voice, the one
that gives you system alerts, speaks at login,, etc. That control isn’t in the
menu that you’re talking about. Thanks, though.

Hi Donna,
I don’t have my Mac with me, but I believe for adjusting the volume you need to
do VO shift left and right arrow or VO shift command left and right arrow to
move through the categories. Once you land and volume you will use the same
combination but with a downer or a payroll to adjust
Hi all,
First, I use multiple languages, so am trying to configure the voices for my
secondary languages. I go into VO utility, select Speech, select the language
in question, and select customize to change the voice. I can go into the list
of voices, but can’t seem to check the one I want.
