If the file doesn't close, you most likely have not saved the file.
When you attempt to close the file, you receive a Save As dialogue. You need
to respond to one of the options in order to close or discard the file.
Note: Once you have managed to close or discard the file, TextEdit will remain

The file that I work on in TextEdit does not close when I try to close it
with command-w after saving my changes. It remains open in Save As
dialogbox. How can I close it, please?
