For skipping ads, I use chrome with the YouTube Options extension. This
extension allows you to set those options and thus all videos you watch have
the ads stripped out.

And no, it has nothing to do with keeping you from skipping ads, as visually
you are able to skip ads after five seconds for the majority of the ads.

Yes I have the same difficulty. I'm wondering if this was done intentionally so
you couldn't skip over the adds. The controls work find in the video itself but
don't do anything when the adds are playing.

Does anyone else have problems skipping YouTube ads when using youtube.com on
the Mac? It works great on IOS, but with the regular website on the Mac,
although I can go back in the video with J, play/pause with K, and fast forward
with L, I don't know how to skip an ad at the beginning.
