Most times, you can interact with the text you want to read and then use vo
commands to read it character by character. A filename in Finder, for instance,
is easily reviewed: interact until you can't anymore, then use vo-shift-right

the name of the feature is actually “quick nav” with a V as in Victor, short
for navigation. I love your phrase for it, though, as it does sometimes seem
that way to me. :)
