Try setting a hotspot. As long as you don't quit Preview in the
meantime, that works.

Here's how I set up Preview:
Setting up Preview for reading:
Open Preview Preferences (Command-Comma).
Interact with Toolbar and select PDF.
In "On opening documents", check the checkbox "Show sidebar only for
Table of Contents", as well as the checkbox "Start on the last view

take control books etc.
I used to have preview set up to read single page continuous however since I
installed Snow Leopard this doesn't appear to be an option because as soon as I
