Nope, an old Netopia router which isn't very good. However, the similarity is
that we have a macbook pro, and two iMacs trying to connect. Scouring the
forums though would suggest that it's a known snow-lepard issue.

I think it may have something to do with apple's funky protocol stacks like AFP
more than it does have to do with tcp/ip. I could be wrong though

I have the same exact issue. Are you using a linksys router? I'm not sure what
goes on, but it seems to topple over when I want to do filesharing, which works
flawlessly but that is when it falls over. I have no clue why this happens but
either a reboot or a reboot of the router does the trick.
Huh, now that is interesting. I cannot imagine how the security settings of the
router would affect things, but then again, that is the beauty of technology;
it has to act up now and then.

Ahh but sharing is caring! :) However back to the original point of this
thread. I changed the security on the router and everything seems to be now
working fine. As I said in a previous message, I've absolutely no idea why..

lol trust me I don't need an excuse to buy gadgets. However, I already have a
rather nice Extreme, and an Airport express at home which are working
beautifully. However, if you want to give me your credit card, I'l happily buy
a second one for myself! *smile*

Hmmm, sounds like an excuse to purchase an AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule. :)
Yeah, I'm just trying to help you spend money. he he
This does sound like a rather perplexing problem and I would be interested in
the end results.

Thanks Scott, everything is using DHCP. Unfortunately, I don't think the
router supports dhcp reservations, but it's an excellent thought.

Anne,
Like you, I also have a number of Macs and iPhones connected to the wireless
network and I am not or have not experienced any problems.
I am curious if all of the machines on the network are configured to use dhcp
or a mix of dhcp and static. It should not matter, but if using dhcp and if
Hi Anne,
This seems to be a problem a lot of people have experienced since upgrading to
SL. However, oddly enough, we've just changed the security on the router to
WPA and everything now seems fine. I've no idea why this is the case, but I'm
certainly not complaining. I'm not using an Airport
Hello Dónal,
We regularly have 4 or 5 Macs connected to our wifi network and never have the
problems you describe.
We have an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express with the Airport Extreme
connected via ethernet to our modem-router.
Cheers,
Anne
