NO, I was not clear. I had forgotten that the Mac has a separate rotor for quickly changing settings. I guess one could consider it a bit like the quadruple double tab on IOS except it is not configurable as to what is in it. Also, I think a quadruple double tab would be a better interaction th

Lori, Try holding down VO + CMD + Shift, and then pressing any arrow key to open the Speech Attribute Guide. Now press the left/right arrow key, to the Voice menu, then use the up/down arrow to select a voice. A the top of the menu, you will find Automatically Select Depending On Language. HT

On the iPhone if you use any language other than the default like for example Irish English, then the synthesizer will only speak that language. MacOS is a bit more confusing, but there is also a "language" in the rotor and the top item is automatically select language. I believe if you pick any
