Hello Denise, I always get rid of the preview pane by placing the VO cursor on the horizontal splitter, bringing the mouse to it, and double clicking with the trackpad. This allows me to choose which messages I want to open, and to skip those I don't. I read a message by pressing Return, and VO

Hello Denise, To change to Classic View, open Mail Preferences, select Viewing and the first item is the check box for Classic View. To get more voices, open VO Utility, go to the Speech category and open the Default Voice menu (VO-Space). Go down to the last item, Customize, and press REturn.
